NORTH SOMERSET CONSERVATIVES BUSINESS CLUB (NSCBC)

We set up the North Somerset Conservatives Business Club two years ago, specifically to help local businesses promote themselves to their peers throughout North Somerset. To date we’ve had seven successful events, mostly Business Breakfasts at the Doubletree by Hilton, Cadbury House Hotel, in Congresbury.

At our event on 1 May 2009, we launched additional services for local businesses as shown below. These are designed to complement the successful Business Breakfast package that we’ve promoted to date, which we are offering to local businesses at cost, for the duration of the recession.

Our full range of business services is as follows:

1. Business Breakfast package

·          We mail our up to date list of around 500 local business directors and owners, having agreed the content of the letter with you beforehand.

·          If you like, we can include your leaflets or other material within the mailing.

·          The letter is sent as an invitation to the event from The Rt. Hon.Dr. Liam Fox, MP.

·          We follow up everybody by telephone - to encourage them to attend.

·          We help with any local PR to help promote the event, as we're in regular contact with local journalists.

·          We organise the whole Business Breakfast for you, which gives you an opportunity to make a presentation to the audience.

·          Following the event, you get an up to date copy of our mailing list as part of the package.

All for as little as £500 - though higher amounts gratefully received.

2. Conventional mailshot

·          You send us the text of your letter, plus your letterheaded stationery and branded envelopes.

·          We 'mail-merge' your letter text with our list and print out all the letters.

·          We enclose them together with any other material you want to include.

·          Then we post them, on a date convenient to you. Then all you do is handle the responses and follow up the leads.

All for £200 plus postage.

3. E-mailshot

·          You send us the HTML (electronic artwork) 'advertisement' you want us to send - an invitation to an event, or a promotional offer of some kind.

·          If you need us to help you create the artwork, we have specialists who we can call on.

·          We send it to our up to date e-mail list of around 500 local business directors and owners, on a date agreed with you.

For £100 - all in.

New Government, New Challenges, New Opportunities

How should the Coalition best help you?

Now that the Election is behind us, the Emergency Budget held, and the measures within it, enacted, the first steps to steering this country back to prosperity have now been put in place. Already we’ve put in place measures to help businesses such as yours by:

·    reversing Labour’s 1% rise in Employers’ National Insurance Contributions,

·    reducing Corporation Tax by 1% each year from next year, until it’s just 24% in 2015; and

·    reducing the small companies’ Corporation Tax rate to 20%.

Whilst I acknowledge that the VAT increase we’ve had to introduce is not the sort of news you wanted, we’ve postponed this until the start of next year, so that hopefully, you’ll benefit from business brought forward to avoid this increase.

Balancing the books in an era of unprecedented Government debt is not going to be an easy task. But whilst I hope you’ll appreciate that already, we’ve tried to help businesses such as yours, I’d like to explain the rationale behind some of our Budget decisions, and also to hear from you, what you’d like the Coalition Government to do, to help get Britain back on its feet again.

As a result, the topic for next month’s Business Club will be “New Government, New Challenges, New Opportunities”, and my aim is to explain to you, how we’re aiming to take the country forward and back into prosperity. But I’d also like to hear from you, what you think we should now be doing, to make your business life better in the longer term.
